Car — economy / compact

from 200K IDRper day

A small automatic fits down Bali's narrow lanes and squeezes into spots a bigger car can't park in. On the back roads around Canggu, or the longer run south to Uluwatu, a compact like a Brio or an Agya sips petrol and takes some of the sting out of the traffic. It suits two or three people with a bit of luggage who'd rather come and go on their own than book a driver every time.

Request on WhatsApp

We confirm the exact price on WhatsApp before you commit. You pay the provider directly. This service is provided by an independent supplier, not by Spacious Bali. See our terms.

How it works

  1. 1Tap the service to open WhatsApp with your dates already filled in. Tell us how many days you want the car, automatic or manual, and which villa or area you're in.
  2. 2We confirm the daily rate, line up a rental owner we trust, and check the car's free for your dates. You'll see the full price before anything is booked.
  3. 3The car comes to your villa fuelled to the level we agree, usually the same day or the morning you need it. Look it over together, hand over a copy of your licence, and you're set.
  4. 4You pay the owner directly, normally in cash, along with any deposit they ask for. We'll have given you both figures ahead of time.

Common questions

Do I need a special licence to drive here?
Bring your home driving licence and an International Driving Permit. Police run checkpoints around the island and can fine you if you're caught without the IDP, so arrange it at home before you fly. It takes about ten minutes at most post offices or motoring bodies. Traffic keeps to the left in Bali, and the small roads get tight, which is half the reason a compact is easier to live with.
Is the car automatic or manual?
Both are around. Most guests want automatic, so that's what we line up unless you tell us otherwise. The usual small cars here are something like a Honda Brio, a Toyota Agya or a Daihatsu Ayla, all easy to park and cheap to run. Say which you'd prefer when you message and we'll match it.
Can you drop it at my villa, and what about petrol?
Yes. The owner brings the car to your villa and collects it from the same place at the end, anywhere from Canggu down to Uluwatu. It arrives fuelled to the level we agree, and you bring it back the same or just settle the difference at the end. Petrol is cheap here, so filling a car this size costs a fraction of what you'd pay back home. Fill up at any Pertamina station, or the little roadside stalls if you're caught short.
Is there a deposit, and am I insured?
Most owners ask for a deposit, usually cash, held against damage and handed back when you return the car in the same state. Basic cover tends to be included, but the excess and what counts as your fault vary from one owner to the next, so we'll spell out exactly what you're covered for before you commit. If anyone wants to hold your passport instead of cash, tell us and we'll sort a cash deposit.
How long can I keep it, and what if my plans change?
Anything from a single day to a few weeks. Longer hires usually bring the daily rate down, so give us your dates and we'll ask about a weekly price. Nothing is locked in until you've agreed the price with us, so up to that point you can change your mind freely. Once the car is booked, message us as early as you can and we'll pass any change straight to the owner.
