Ubud sits about ninety minutes inland from the coast, and it's where Bali slows right down. Rice terraces climb the hillsides, and the temples are the kind you can walk into rather than photograph over a fence. The waterfalls nearby run from an easy five-minute path to a proper scramble down into a gorge. We arrange a private car and driver for the day so you can string a couple of falls together with the Tegallalang terraces and a Balinese lunch, without renting a scooter or plotting the route yourself.

How it works

1. 1Tap through to WhatsApp with where you're staying, how many of you there are, and what you want more of, the waterfalls or the temples and terraces.
2. 2We confirm the price for the car and driver for the day, agree a route with you, and line up a driver who knows which falls are running well that week.
3. 3On the day the driver collects you from the villa, does the loop, and waits at each stop while you swim and explore. Entrance fees and lunch you pay as you go.
4. 4Settle the driver directly at the end, usually in cash, at the price we agreed.

Common questions

Is the price per person or for the whole car?

For the car and driver for the day, not per head, so two of you or five of you pay the same. What moves it is distance, since the far northern falls like Sekumpul are a much longer drive. Entrance fees and lunch sit on top and you pay those on the day.

How long is the day?

Reckon on eight to ten hours door to door. Most people leave the villa around eight to reach the falls before the coach tours, and Ubud is roughly ninety minutes from Canggu, a bit more from Uluwatu.

Which waterfalls do we actually see?

We suggest a pairing based on the season and how much walking you fancy. Tegenungan is wide and easy to reach, Tukad Cepung is the one with the beam of light coming down through the cave mid-morning, Tibumana is quieter, and Nungnung means a lot of steps. After heavy rain some run muddy or close for safety, so we check before you set off.

What should we bring or wear?

A sarong for the temples, since bare knees won't get you in, and the driver can keep spares in the car. Sandals you don't mind getting wet, cash for entrances and food, and a dry top if you plan to swim. The steps at some falls are steep, so shoes with grip help.

Can we change the plan during the day?

Yes, the driver is yours for the whole day. Skip a second waterfall for longer at the rice terraces or the Monkey Forest, or head back early if everyone is tired. Going a lot further than we agreed is the only thing that changes the price, and the driver will tell you before you go, not after.
